Student Council and Leadership
Student leadership is the foundation of all school initiatives that benefit our student population and community. Examples of student-led councils are the Athletic Council, the Music Council, the History Council and the Student Council. The Student Council is an elected group that represents the views of the entire student body. They lead all school events including fundraising for different charities.
One of the more formal student leadership programs involves the Prefect group. Prefects are student role models who provide leadership throughout the school. These highly motivated and dedicated Grades 10-12 students help welcome new students to Richmond Hill High School through the Grade 9 Orientation Camp program, and assist at multiple in-school functions. Moreover, Prefects assume the role of student ambassadors at events involving parents and the community, including Curriculum and Parents' Nights, Awards Assemblies, and Commencement. Finally, Prefects are encouraged to participate in leadership training, to fundraise and support worthy causes, including the Stephen Lewis Foundation. |
